Kompass Language Guidance
Kompass is a small team of language guides based in Malmö, Sweden. Instead of a traditional classroom teaching style, we help you reach your goals by guiding you through conversations in a foreign language.
Founder and language guide
Hi, my name is Dennis.
I’m the founder of Kompass and a language guide with more than six years of experience guiding people in Swedish and other languages. I have a Master’s degree in linguistics and am currently completing a PhD in Semitic languages at Lund University, where I also teach and research Arabic.
Originally from Germany, I have lived in Sweden since 2013, so I know first-hand what it is like to learn a language and build a life in it. At the moment I am learning Italian myself, which keeps me close to the learner’s side of the table.

The name
While Kompass refers to the instrument used to guide people and help them stay on their course during longer journeys, it is also a wordplay on the Swedish “KOMunikationsPASS” (communication session). Taken together, the word encapsulates everything we stand for: guidance through conversation.
Where we meet
In the middle of Malmö
Our sessions take place at Spångatan 20A, in central Malmö. We also meet online, with the same conversations and the same guide.
Word of mouth
How we work
Most of our clients find us through a recommendation from a friend or colleague, and we take pride in our good reputation. Many stay for a year or two. Over time we get to know each other well, and that is a big part of why the conversations work.
